Last Night In Saigon

For the first time this holiday, we felt the effects of Coronavirus closing in on us today on our journey back to Saigon. The temple and church we had planned to visit were shut, the service station we stopped at on the way down yesterday was closed when we tried to stop there today; the restaurant our guide had planned to have lunch at  would not let us, as foreign nationals, in.

We carried on to Saigon, where things were still far more relaxed, and all headed to the baguette restaurant Tess & I had eaten at before for lunch.
We were staying at the same hotel as before but we had been moved to a very smart room with a jacuzzi bath in a bathroom with big picture windows with a panoramic view of the area.

This evening our guide, Loc, took us on a walking tour of the city, in particular the areas lit up with floodlights and decorations. The photo shows the lotus fountain in Times Square. We enjoyed a final dinner in yet another excellent restaurant. Loc has unfailingly taken us to local restaurants, serving tasty local food, that we would never have known about or found by ourselves.

The plan was to go back to the nightclub we ended up in on our Vespa pub crawl on our first night in Saigon but that was closed so we ended up sitting outside a small bar enjoying a few convivial beers.
