Peeking through ....

Dry again .
Once everything was fed , took the heifers that are sold round to the yard and put a new ear tag in one that had lost one of its 2 official ear tags. It is a legal requirement that all cattle have 2 matching ear tags with their unique number that goes with their cattle passport. Every time a beast is bought or sold the movement has to be notified to a central computer base at Workington in Cumbria and the paper passport is signed by both seller and buyer. Sometimes think the government knows more about the whereabouts of every cattle beast than all the people !
Left Kev on bedding cattle and picked up Littlemiss and headed off down the road to bring 3 loads of blackie hoggs home from their wintering fields. Gareth got them gathered in with his 3 collies no problem . Eventually got them all loaded and home despite them being jumpy wee buggers !
Shut them in a shed to get them taught to eat feeding for a couple of weeks so that when they are ewes out on the hill they will know what a bag of feed is .
Another cow calved tonight but she was standing over her new baby so left her to it.
This barley was sown 10 days ago. It was barely visible this morning but by tonight it had grown about a cm, enough to be able to read the rows up the field. Amazing things plants when you actually stop to think about things .
