Ancient plant
Equisetum, or horsetail as it is more commonly known, is a descendant of a plant that grew to the size of a large tree during the Carboniferous period when coal was formed over 300 million years ago. Today, it's a little plant that is growing in the damp soil at the bottom of my garden and I think it looks really interesting in these early stages of its growth every spring.
It was a lovely warm, sunny day today, ideal for gardening. Indeed, I was so absorbed that I lost track of time so our meal was rather late this evening!
