Dog's tooth violet in the rain
Otherwise known as Erythronium, this is a very well behaved plant. It comes up every spring, first the lovely mottled leaves, soon followed by these beautiful yellow drooping flowers with gracefully curved petals. I started with one clump a few years ago and now I have a whole border of them, having also given away quite a few tubers to friends who have admired them.
I had hoped to work in the garden today but the grey, damp day put me off so I did some baking instead.
