Low Lune (2)
So, first off, you need to realise that the majority of the time - like almost *all* of the time - you'd just see water between the banks of the River Lune; none of the stones you can see here would be visible. It rains a lot in these parts and the river is usually rather busy. The question is how high is the river and not how low is it.
The second relevant consideration for this blog post: the best book I have ever read about a band is Alfred Bos's 'The Race Is The Prize', which focusses on Simple Minds' career up to and including 'Sparkle In The Rain'. The keyboard player, Mick McNeil, talks about growing up on the island of Barra and how there was nothing much to talk about other than what was there. (It is properly remote.)
So it is that as our world seems to have contracted, on our daily walks Dan and I talk a lot more about the world immediately around us: the occasional walkers we encounter; the diminished amount of traffic; the sheep (we talk a lot about sheep); and the river. I think we are talking ourselves into walking across.
