The Head of the House

The wise bird,
using his nous,
knows that now’s
the time
(for the time
has come)
for him
to plonk
his bum
on top
of the Head
of the House.

(And so 
does so
with no 
expectation
of wild applause
or multiple Wows!
for it’s not as if 
he’s scored
a winning goal
or learned to play
a violin concerto
by Richard Strauss).
