Summer's Coming!
You could believe it's already here, sunshine and cloudless blue sky today. That is, until you step outside and feel the hint of ice in the wind from the east.
These strawberries are in the greenhouse, and blossoming in the shelter. A couple of months and we should have a crop, fingers crossed.
TM and I have been very busy cutting back overgrown trees and shrubs. Today we finished a cercidiphyllum (the one that smell of toffee in autumn), got most of the way through an escallonia that was blocking a path, and extracted a limb from a holly, which was shading one of the borders. That wasn't a pleasant experience. The bonfire is growing tall again, and we've also got a bonfire-in-waiting pile. Usually we'd shred material like this, but there' just too much of it.
FaceTime with the youngest grandchildren today. They seem quite happy on their back garden beach (paddling pool and sandpit). And a picture arrived of eldest granddaughter, painting their fence. Aren't there laws about putting 9 year-olds to work?
