Don't look now

One of my favourite films, definitely in my top 50, is Don't Look Now, set in Venice and starring Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland. It's been on my mind as we've been walking the streets, particularly today when the rain has never stopped. I was reminded again of the film in this image where the old lady has quite a shadowy presence. I've changed the first version for this straightforward monochrome without the fuzziness that I'd added. But I can tell you she's carrying a stiletto in her handbag and the other woman, who just isn't good enough for her son, won't see another morning.
