Feeding the babies

The coot chicks had hatched today - just three of them.  The parent was feeding them but the one at the front was getting all the food so I hope that the others will get some too.  They're such funny looking creatures when they're very tiny!

The gardenis so dry and hard as we've had so little rain that Ispent time in it reading my book. I really don't know why I feel so guilty about reading instead of working in it!
