Goodbye Jay

I got up this morning and there was no sign of Jay - who always comes and joins me in the loo for his morning brush.
As I came downstairs there was poo and vomit in four areas. Jay was sitting on my chair with laboured breathing. His treats from last night were still there untouched.
Something was definitely wrong.
I phoned the vet as soon as they opened and he was there 10 minutes later.

Late afternoon I got a call from the vet ………… not good.
Heart, liver, kidneys, thyroid, bladder -- all with their own problems and interlinked.
He has obviously not been well for a while but has never given any clue. Even the vet was saying that he had the most wonderful and friendly disposition.
After SWMBO got home from the shop I let her know what I had been told and we decided that it would be kinder that we did not just have him pumped full of more and more drugs as he got sicker and sicker. We phoned No1 son and let him know what was going on (since Jay had come to us from him and his family). He spoke to our daughter-in-law and they agreed with us. So we called the vet back to let her know and arranged to go up and see him one last time.
