LD 33 The old way through
When we first came to Feorlean in 1992 it was still possible (just) to drive a vehicle up the old track to the house. It had been the only access until the hill ground was planted for trees sometime in the early 1980s which meant that a new road had to be constructed to the back of the property. That became the default, and easier, way through and the old way began to return to nature though Geordie Buchan apparently took his Triumph Herald over it in most weathers except snow and ice, when the rock shelf half way up became impassable.
I drove it in good weather a couple of times in the year we first moved in , more to show it could be done than for any other reason, but in the last 27 years or so it has become overgrown, though quite how it has now deteriorated much I didn't fully realise until today when we went to look for a part of the fence that had been, we were told, damaged during the winter by a tree.
Cathleen and I found the fence damage and it wont take much to fix it. But it will take a fair bit more to open the track again , if we ever wanted to , not least because the old woodland that it came through has taken over almost completely though the little stream is still running and helping to make bits of the place quite magical.
