Holly Blue

I noticed a blue butterfly fluttering around our ivy hedge. A Holly Blue, and a female I think.

Apparently the first generation feed on ilex (holly), the second generation in summer will feed on ivy and other plants. Sometimes there is a third generation in a “season”. They are as much an Ivy Blue as a Holly Blue.

The commonest of the blue butterflies, and widespread across much of the world.
