Bee’s Nest
Or as this sort of thing is usually called ‘Insect Hotel’, or in this case more like a B&B.
We’ve had this split log sitting at our front door for a couple of years waiting for yours truly to drill a few holes for masonry bees and other such creatures to ‘nest’ in. Mrs W had been watching bees taking an interest in screw holes in one of our gate posts, and ‘suggested’ that we (that’s me) could drill some holes in said split log.
Apart from dropping it when I went to knock the sawdust out of the holes, narrowly missing my foot, all went well, and it’s now in situ on our water feature (see extra).
Spent an hour or two waiting for wildlife, and just like yesterday no one turned up except a pigeon, and a sparrow - see extras.
ps - that sparrow was a dunnock . . .
