Tegenaria gigantea

Though to be honest this one needed a "very" for a middle name. Probably the largest, and angriest, spider I've ever encountered in the UK. I'd have liked to study him longer (I'm going with male as his markings were so pronounced), but as I said, he was very very angry and not for keeping still.
He'll usually build quite a large Web, in this shot you can see the radiating threads he has to alert him to prey.
