Clothes!

Katie normally gets dressed first in our house. Today she came out of her room in a dress and leggings for the first time in lockdown. She looked so lovely. Seeing her all pretty made me realise I too was sick of Lockdown Scruffs.  A pretty shirt and a nice cardigan with clean jeans were the order of the day instead today. So Katie declared that we should have a photograph together.

The big job of the day was recording some video auditions that had to be submitted. Clarinet was first this morning. She's playing a piece called Hocus Pocus so we went into the garden with her in Hogwarts robes. It took a few attempts thanks to church bells and a car, a couple of dogs, council workers! But it was fabulous.

I decided that today, as she has worked extremely hard in her school work this week, she could have a more relaxed "school time". She did her daily warm ups but after that it was reading, lego and a bit of ipod time. At lunchtime she did a clarinet masterclass with a Royal Marines band clarinettist via Instagram!

We had to record her bassoon audition later in the day. She nailed that first time! We had B on video on my computer while I recorded it so that she could make sure she was happy with the recording. Katie was fab. We went for our daily charge round. Part of it became a gentle walk as it reached time for NCO online. Today's webinar was a brilliant q & a/discussion with two musicians from the Berlin Phil. Katie submitted a question and was delighted when it was both chosen to be asked and when the director of NCO knew who she was & publicly said how fabulous she is! Katie has done quite a lot of online classes and things, it's how it's had to be, but this was the first one that I've seen her so very delighted about. We had to pick something up from B while she was listening/taking part and Katie didn't even stop listening properly, apart from to tell her what was going on and that Cath knew her! A day of very excellent music. NCO "photo" in the extras!
