Darn it

Modern socks don’t seem to need darning. They just seem to get thinner and thinner until they give up. However, these socks are comparatively new and one developed a neat hole in the heel. So I hunted out my store of darning wools and really enjoyed the discipline of a tidy darn.
When we lived in Kenya In the 1970s I helped a friend who was teaching local girls basic sewing, and one of the things we taught them was darning.
