Diary of an Edinburgher

Look behind you! (Day 45)

The usual fitness exercises in the morning for both. In fact, I excelled myself - indeed, I stretched muscles unaccustomed to being stretched perhaps a wee bit too much. I was a tad sore from yesterday’s fairly pathetic ‘stretching’, but obviously I had done something that’s not in my normal range of movement. I also did the coffee table exercises. And the bike.

JR went out for her run - eight minutes continuous running, followed by five minutes walking. Repeat. Very tough, for a beginner.

JR got her delivery of a new top, so she wanted to test it out. We headed over the Links and went down to the canal for a change of scenery. It would have been very nice if the dog friendly cafe at the end of the canal had been open... it was not. I listened to my audiobook on the way.

I was taking a shot of the others walking along, but they seemed distracted. I heard a racket behind me. Like the sound of say... a very large bird - possibly a swan - taking off... I turned round in time to see it taking off right in front of me and swooshing along just above the canal before gaining height as it reached the buildings. What a terrific video/shot that would have been! I was SO annoyed to have missed it.

I shall stagger out on my stiff legs to clap for the NHS and carers tonight. Only 35 more claps till Christmas, as I was informed on Instagram this week, just to cheer everyone up.

Happy Birthday Captain Colonel Tom Moore! What a breath of joy he is!
