Shopping expedition
JR went to the gym this morning, and I did some yoga and even a wee bit of cycling.
The sun was shining, and the wind had dropped a fraction. But when we went out I had my woolly hat on and warm scarf, though my gilet was warm enough.
Walking through the Meadows when the blossom is in full bloom is perfect. Loads of folk were standing around under the trees, trying to get the perfect shot. I spotted a pile of blossom by one tree - perhaps someone had pulled them off, as there was no wind-blown blossom around yet. Anyway, Archie insisted on posing with some on his head (not) and three young Asian girls nearby squealed in delight and came rushing to take a photo of him too. I wasn’t quick enough to move further back and get them in a cute photo.
As we walked past the outdoor seating at Soderberg, there was a big gorgeous Airedale, so of course we had to stop and pat her. Daisy was sweet, with big deep bark, and she and Archie got on fine. We had a long chat with the owners, whose daughter is at university here (mechanical engineer) and they were visiting from way down south.
We walked down the Mile, and then down Cockburn Street (Extras). The sun was out, and there were lots of people sitting out having meals (and drinks). It was so much nicer than the empty streets earlier in the week - what a difference sunshine makes.
We had a coffee (and a huge cinnamon bun) in the Milkman. It has always been mobbed every time we’ve passed. We then popped in to our pal’s shop - Armstrong’s - second hand and vintage clothing. JR got a £7 pair of sunglasses. Archie was SO good in the shop - he just stood there, waiting patiently.
A seat in the gardens, and I popped in to M&S (for about 7 minutes) to get a few essentials (socks, knickers) and then Archie and I came home on the bus, while JR went for a more extended shopping expedition. She has missed shopping SO much.
Actually, she’s just home - 3 hours later (6pm) laden with stuff. She really HAS missed ‘proper’ shopping...
