Run 5 Challenge

I’m usually too busy to engage with these kind of social media fads but this one drew me in.

We ran/biked 5, nominated 5 people who we knew would embrace the challenge (or we hope they will, anyway) and we donated money to the NHS Charities Together.

I’m not using this blip as some kind of magnanimous gesture, to say “hey look at me, I donated money to charity!” But moreover, I want to celebrate my daughter’s participation in it.

This was her challenge as much as it was mine & although it was cold & wet when we set off, she was determined to complete it. I made my donation and my daughter asked me not to transfer her usual spending money to her ‘gohenry’ card this week and to donate her money too.

I feel this is quite a significant decision to make when you’re 11 years old and saving up for “cool things I want” so I have to say, I was very proud of her generosity and kindness.
