Maple Avenue
Decided to take our two students to Kingsbury Water Park, to look at water plants and birds. This area was devastated in the 30's by open mining of gravel and sand left from the last ice age, but in the 70's planted with thousands of trees, and the huge quarries landscaped into over thirty pools. Of course, nothing is open, but it's full of birds and very beautiful. Love this avenue of field maples that separates two of the pools.
We saw a pair of tufted ducks, swans, coots, a moorhen building a nest, loads of black-headed gulls nesting on the islands, Canada geese, mallards, and some cormorants in the distance.
Gratefuls:
- having a car and being able to get away for a couple of hours, and give Mummy and Daddy a bit of uninterrupted peace
- G & H bringing us wholemeal flour and bleach that we hadn't found anywhere
- the beautiful sunlight through the window as I type this at 7pm, the kids eating their tea... the rest of us will wait to eat with Paul when he gets back from work after 8 sometime.
