Serial
First of May. Usually a day of politics, when various groups, mainly on the left wing of the political scale demonstrate their large numbers in the streets and squares. Speeches are being held by political leaders demanding increased support for vulnerable groups of our society. All important tools and effect of a living democracy. Today was different. No demonstrations in the streets, no marching bands and holding hands to unite under the banners. Instead we had speeches from a TV-studio, transmitted to anyone interested in watching. The theme was solidarity and humanism, internationalism and support, to get us through the global pandemic and to give courage to us, citizens of the world.
My personal day was spent indoor, at least in the morning with time by the computer learning things and watching some clips from various concerts. The weather got better in the afternoon so after my yoga practice I took a brief walk around the pond. The word "Serial" in the title refers to this peculiar tree (still) growing in the small grove by the pond. I'm surprised it's still alive, the leaves are starting to come out, but it looks very beaten, bent and broken, looking more like a sculpture than a tree. I will follow the tree and put some more pictures out to see how it's doing. A symbol of a fragile democracy, perhaps.
