Threatening sky
Beltane greetings!
After a cold, grey start to the day, it was quite warm and sunny by lunchtime. As rain was forecast for later, and our veg and 'essentials' order had already been delivered, MrM and I decided on an afternoon walk. We made our way up Ramsay Lane, through the valley by the Pin Well and walked in the woods to Wooler Common.
On the way, MrM spotted a red squirrel (extra) with a fir cone in its mouth, high up in a tree. It was quite happy to pose for a few photos until two large deer ran past and startled it - and us! As we walked clouds started to gather, and on the way back through the valley the sky behind us was black.
Quite a few people were out and about on the streets of Wooler today, so we did the now-familiar 'dance of avoidance' so as to maintain social distancing. But once in the countryside, we saw only a couple walking 6 or 7 very well-behaved labradors. Strangely, they came in to view towards the end of the walk, seconds after MrM remarked that we had seen no-one since leaving the town!
Lockdown, day 39
