Etruria Hall

My title should have really said "Up 'Anley Duck!" That's Potteries dialect for "I'm in Hanley".

This is a view of Hanley one of the six towns in Stoke-on-Trent. It's taken from the highest point of one of our short walks from home.

You can spot a huge Tesco supermarket, the Regent Theatre, Stoke-on-Trent museum and art gallery, Victoria Hall, town hall, council offices, and telephone exchange building. But I think the oldest building may be Etruria Hall, situated in the lower middle part of the image.

It's a Georgian house built for the famous potter Josiah Wedgwood. It has grade II listed status and was restored in 1986 as part of the Stoke-on-Trent Garden Festival. It's now a hotel.

From this vantage point, but not in this shot, we can also see our beloved Roaches in the far distance on a clear day. Sigh.........
