The Road Not Taken
TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Niki (my camera) and I were out and about this morning headed to an old cemetery that I was certain would yield an appropriately moody image suitable for an overcast day. I was driving. I got off Rt. 75, stopped at Payne's Prairie to take a few pictures, took a county road, then another, then a back road that seemed to be heading west, then .... OK, I admit it, I was lost and wandering the grounds of the old cemetery seemed out of the question.
Back tracking along the roads I came in on I noticed an old dirt road out of the corner of my eye and pulled over. I stood there and, just like the Robert Frost poem, looked down the length of the road as far as I could to where it bent ought of sight in the scrub. I knew at that moment that with any amount of luck and a smidgen of talent this was the image I would post as my blip for the day.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
The Road Not Taken; Robert Frost
.... and the adventure continues.
