Keepsake.
The Boy has been called back to Berlin to work, he flies early Monday. He’s been in Cornwall with his partner and passed through London today. I picked him up from Paddington and drove him home to Suffolk.
Despite being masked and keeping our distance, it was a delight to see him, to talk and listen to music we both loved, if only for a couple of hours.
This morning I made him this keepsake, to watch over him and remind him that he is loved. The remains of an old pipe I found on the Limehouse shore, it’s bowl stamped with the maker’s mark, a heart.
I wish that I could travel with him, to keep him company and share his burden, but I can’t...
