Go West!

Today was a lovely relaxed day as befits a Bank Holiday Friday (as if keeping track of the days wasn't already difficult enough. 

The switch to Friday is of course to tie in with the 75th anniversary of V.E. Day. I'm definitely not one for remembering war with a rosy glow of nostalgia and patriotic flag-waving, but this was something worth celebrating. The ending of a war which killed 75 million people - 40 million of which were civilian deaths is worth remembering. The ending of the brutality, horror, fear and grief and a new beginning. No matter who takes the spoils, war really has no winners.

We decided to go for a walk across town  to the West Common. We have been to the South one a couple of times recently so it was a change to take the longer walk to the West one today. The weather was perfect for a steady stroll. 

My main shot is the view across the common towards Ellis Mill which I blipped a few months ago. There is an extra showing the back of a block of stables. This is where we got Minstrel from - he and his siblings had been rescued by staff at the stables after being dumped on ground nearby.

When we arrived home Brian hung new curtains in the back room, some laundry was done and I made Beef Stifado for tea - no disasters today, and the meat was melt in the mouth tender for a change!

We started watching the new series of Brassic last night and will watch some more tonight. It is laugh out loud funny, if you're not easily offended!
