Friday: Common Carder Bee

Started clearing a small veggie bed, by hand thankfully, a bee came up from the dried grass clippings mulch and was rather angry, then another bee and another - it dawned on me that there might be a nest, there was and it looked a little like a rotting veggie root, closer inspection and a photo confirmed my suspicions, felt incredibly guilty.
Replaced dead grass clumps, propped a plastic tray & wire hoops to prevent cats digging and left them to get on with it!

Checked on the bees some time later, they were a lot calmer and were busy moving the grass clippings around, may have been chewing it -

Later still, I checked them again ... saw little movements of the dried grass cuttings, gently put a few small tufts on top, it’s going to be a cold night :-))
House martins flying over the garden at lunchtime.
Still stuffing lots of small plants into large pots and adding them to the ones from few days back, they’re all nicely watered ... think l’m ready for a G&T ... it’s a Bank Holiday, 75th anniversary of VE Day ...
Iechyd Da / cheers / good health x
Stay healthy and happy everyone :-)
Nos da pawb / goodnight all xx
