Fifth story ad space

The ad space at 12 o'clock in this image has always intrigued me. Historically it was the 'Irn-Bru clock', a clock for the urban commuter in the bus lanes beside or for those heading to the railway tracks within Glasgow Central Station. It was more neon sign than adspace, and it had a similar neon sign for Bell's Whisky.

Around a decade ago it became just ad space, but from the photo alone, it's pretty clear no pedestrian look up. There is of course a better view further up Renfield Street to the right, but that takes you further away from the copy. A limited amount of advertisers would therefore go for it on footfall or passing viewers alone, but it's an iconic piece of Glasgow - I almost said of Glasgow architecture - and with so many old parts gone, going or could go, it's nice that this little corner continues. Quaint and quasi-anachronism it may be, but worth it for all that.
