Win-win situation

We have been using this downtime and good weather to strip the old tarmac off the path round the house.  It was in a terrible state and must have been a classic cowboy job.  Twice, in fact: two distinct layers, varying in thickness from 1 - 5 cm.

The tarmac (or is it asphalt?) came away with little persuasion in large plates which then had to be broken up to form the foundations of what will be a raised and gravelled area.  

So I get the tarmac pulverised and Mrs M gets some exercise.

(I was slightly concerned about the proximity of the greenhouse to the swinging hammer.  Not to mention her feet in trainers.)
