Columbine (Aquilegia vulgaris)

One noticeable effect of the, for Cumbria, extraordinarily dry weather is how the grass grows, or rather how the grass doesn't grow.  Today I cut the grass for the second time this year.

Aquilegia is a very forgiving plant.  Native to west, central and southern Europe.  It will tolerate full sun or partial shade, sand or loam and acid neutral or alkaline conditions.
