Red Kite

Great excitement in the Red Kite world today when the fledgling left its nest for the first time.  The two parents screamed the whole time it was out and about.  Whether they were screaming in terror at the perils of a first flight, or screaming at dangers like me to go away, I don't know.  I do know that I didn't get an in-focus shot of the fledgling (which is nearly as big as its parents but a wobbly flier to say the least).  This is the mother who circled over my head.  She normally quite friendly but she doesn't like my big camera with its long lens. And I've no idea why she has a leaf in her claws.
