Forest Dwellers.....
I was feeling quite anxious today. I wanted to drive slightly further out of where I live in suburbia, to breathe in some green space. The anxiety came from a feeling that I would not be welcome after much discussion in the media about not going to National Parks etc... after Sunday's announcement in England.
But I did go and I shouldn't have really worried. I visited a place called Downs Bank owned by the National Trust. It's about 15 minutes drive away. There was no problem in the small car park, and I saw very few people.
The views from the highest point are of the Clwydians, just inside North Wales, and the Wrekin in Shropshire. I expect it will be busier at the weekend.
It was just the tonic I needed. A couple of hours of nature. The cows that are brought here each year to control the vegetation were enjoying the good weather too.
There were still bluebells in evidence along with broom (see extra), and pink purslane. I'll hope to visit again soon.
