Went the Day Well?

Perhaps not as planned. Started ok. Old mixer chugged away and got me going. Five loads into the concreting it died. No fixing it. Lots of material sitting there and potentially spoiling if it rains. Initial loads starting to set. So, off to the depot to buy a new mixer. I was not looking forward to being in a queue for hours under the distancing and limits on numbers of cars in the hardware area. Luckily I went at lunchtime. (The French do NOT like to work over lunch, so queues are always shorter). Asked the girl if I had to drive through the one way system, block everyone while they get the mixer from the racks, load it to trailer and then pay. She said “park outside, pay, and we will bring it to you”. Was not expecting such flexibility! It worked. Managed to get the first layer down today. Smoothing layer either tomorrow or the day after once the first layer is dry enough to work on. Beer afterwards was really needed.
