The original swing bridge over the Caledonian Canal at Tomnahurich, in Inverness. They're constructing a second swing bridge nearby, so there'll be less disruption to traffic, as vessels pass by along the canal - only one bridge opened at a time. Also allows work to be done on one bridge, without having to close the road for long periods, hopefully.
Some heavy showers about.
Extra: looking the other direction from the same spot, to the new swing bridge's construction site. There's also now a control tower for the two bridges.
My excuse for being in the area? Sadly it was to attend a funeral at the nearby crematorium. In line with the Coronavirus restrictions, it was a small affair, which is what Christine had wanted. There was room inside the building, but I chose to stay outside. The service was transmitted outside the hall via speakers. Lovely lady, that I'd met several times. Worked with, for, and then with again, her husband, for several years - such a great character, that only left the College a few years ago. Good to see him, and also some work colleagues in the flesh, rather than at all those on-line meetings. Obviously not good that it was under such circumstances. We kept our distance. Cycled over.
