C2C day 10 Osmotherley to Blakey Ridge

Not such an early start, we got away at 9.00 am and passed the Cold Beck Dam to join up with the Coast to Coast at Scarth Nick.  The route shares its path with the Cleveland Way for a good proportion of the day.  This was a bit of a rollercoaster along the North Yorks Moors and we seemed to either be climbing or descending for the first 12 miles.

Spent lunch at the Wain Stones.  Regretably, we were joined by some youths from a local school who were "enjoying" the outdoors.  Still we had our inevitable coffee and packed lunch.

On completing this section of the walk we joined an old disused rail line for the last 5 miles into Blakey Ridge.  Ross blasted out at about 4 mph and yours truly was left in his wake.  I blame ipods actually, he was evidently listening to something fast paced.  We got to the Lion Inn at about 3.45 pm and had our first bath of the holiday.  It was bliss to soak away all of the aches and pains.

We started enjoying the bar's offerings and then met up with an American lad and his grandfather who we had passed earlier in the day. The Coast 2 coasters are a different bunch from our previous nights, but seem friendly.  We had cod and chips and we are now settling down for the evening.

A welcome outpost in the middle of the Moors after a hard walk of 19 miles.
