Wakened about 5 am dazzled by sunlight reflected in the mirror. Ah yes, sunrise was 04:43. Must remember to deploy the blind.....

Went to the allotment to do watering and intending to do weeding (much needed) but had to spend far too long propping up three or four broad bean plants that had been blown over by the wind in the last couple of days. V difficult to get sticks deep enough into the ground. Don't know if they'll survive - frustrating since the beans on them should be pickable in a week or so. Planted out another tomato and disturbed a huge ant colony in the compost.

There were even more ants on the globe artichokes, assiduously attending to their intensive aphid-farms, on the stalks beneath the buds.
