Common as Hawkweed...

Many years ago one of our horsey neighbours told me this plant - Ragwort -  was poisonous and should be dug out and the roots burned.  It seemed a bit drastic when the alternative was to keep his nag out of my garden.  He and his horse are long gone, glue factory or another stable, I don't know but the plant is still around my hedges.  I was talking recently to a neighbour and related the tale of 20 years ago whereupon he said this wasn't Ragwort, it was Hawkweed and posed no danger.  Now I'm totally unsure.
