The Quiet Life
The Quiet Life by Alexander Pope.
The week kind of got away from me. I pushed too hard, worked way too much. Tried to be on top of it all. And then yesterday when I was heading home for supper, I discovered the flaw in moving the bulk of the church online. My computer stopped working.
I realized that I hadn’t uploaded my video for the day, and couldn’t upload the video for the sermon the next day. I quietly freaked out. And I came back after supper and worked on it for three more hours.
Short story? I’m tired.
I texted my admin person today;
“And just for the record, if I hear the phrase New Normal used one more time in one more leadership instruction class, seminar, survey, overview, or visioning meeting, I shall scream.”
Tonight I came across this poem, again.
The Quiet Life
HAPPY the man whose wish and care
A few paternal acres bound,
Content to breathe his native air
In his own ground...
Sound sleep by night; study and ease
Together mixt, sweet recreation,
And innocence, which most does please
With meditation.
——————-
We have made life so complicated.
Is there a way back?
I’m not sure there is.
