Cessford Castle
Another glorious summer's day, the hottest so far, and we had a late-afternoon slot to fetch our click-and-collect groceries from Kelso. So we packed some sandwiches and orange juice, and on the way back home made a slight detour for a picnic, passing Cessford Castle en route. The fence in the photo isn't there for added interest, but because I would have had to negotiate a ditch to avoid it!
We last went to our picnic spot just before lockdown started, but then we walked a very short stretch of Dere Street. Today we sat on a handy bench and enjoyed our meal, taking in the fabulous view in all directions. Then back home to unpack the shopping, and water the plants in the 'yard. It's becoming a daily necessity as it hasn't rained for weeks, and there's none forecast in the near future.
Lockdown, day 67, Friday
