By the Byron
The news headlines about having experienced the sunniest spring on record remind me how much more enjoyable lockdown has been made as a result. Although the grass looks a bit parched we don’t have many reasons to dislike the weather of late.
Relatively spontaneous cycle in the evening, ending up at Byron Pools Local Nature Reserve on the outskirts of Cambridge. This tranquil spot was named after Lord Byron who used to swim at the weir pool whilst he studied at Trinity College two hundred years ago. His biog talks about a passionate relationship with a fellow student who was also a choirboy.
I loved this scene because the greenery was from underwater plants and not the reflection of trees above, as it might appear at first glance.
