Happy Birthday, Puppy
Our puppy is two. Maybe he's not even considered a puppy anymore.
For almost 27 years of our married life, we did not have a dog. The dog kind of came upon us suddenly. My sister, Kerry, caught wind through the family grapevine about how much my son, Patrick, loved my younger sister's dog. We got the phone call, "Pat needs a dog." The idea of a dog kind of seized me and I was like a dog on a bone chewing on the idea of it. Kerry made it all happen by picking out the perfect dog for Patrick (and us!) and paying for him as well.
Dan says I caught him at a weak moment -- jet lagged from a trip to China -- and he said "yes" to the dog. He always thought of dogs as nuisances, mess makers and huge expenses.
It wasn't long after Dan said yes that Patrick and I were off to the airport cargo area to pick up Pat's dog! Our dog!
Desi has been in our family for two years now and it has been a wonderful and delightful two years. We didn't realize what we were missing! He's a happy creature, cheerful and we all love him dearly. Over the past two years, the bonds between all of us have become solidifed.
Happy Birthday, Desi. You are a handsome lad!
