Summit reached!
Archie and I went up the hill this morning. I haven’t been up there for many months, because it’s too far (for me) to walk and the car park has been closed. However, it’s open again. Yay!
It was windy, especially up at the top, but we had that wonderful view over the city again.
JR stayed at home, doing housework. I prefer to be staggering up hills than doing housework. We were expecting a delivery, so one of us had to stay home. The package was supposed to come ‘by the end of the day’. It’s 7.50 now - technically, I suppose, not the ‘end of the day’...
In the afternoon, JR took Archie out for a big walk in the Meadows. I listened to my new audio book. I’ve been waiting for it to become available for ages. It’s ‘War Doctor’ by David Nott. He’s an amazing man, a trauma surgeon, and has spent 25 years doing voluntary work in war zones and natural disasters such as earthquakes. He now trains other doctors to save lives in such places.
I first heard him on Desert Island Discs in 2016. His wee story of having tea with the Queen is just so touching. Have a listen, if you have time:
