Black Lives Matter protest
Three young women, graduating seniors from a local high school, decided three days ago that they would organize a peaceful protest in my hometown. And they pulled it off like pros! In fact, one of the leaders opened up the series of speeches by reiterating that this will be a peaceful protest and "if you're not on board with that, you can leave right now." ;) The three leads are featured kneeling on the main image, with their crew behind them.
They had the support of the Mayor and law enforcement, and drew a huge crowd (see extra). There were speeches and testimonies, followed by a march down one of the areas main roads. Local businesses provided free bottled water, snacks, and even masks.
The crowd was mixed, trending to the young but with a good showing of elders, and included wide representation from various ethnicities. Every single person was masked :)
I hope all these young people show up at the voting booths in November: there needs to be a change in guards at all levels of the government.
