'Maggi'

AW calls this a 'maggi' plant.  Haven't yet looked up what that is in English.

Didn't really need to do any supermarket errands, but I went, just the same, to lighten the load for next time.  I actually appreciate the walk there and back.  Today was an unusually hot day again and normally, when it's like this, it means that rain will come soon.  There is, in fact, a low-pressure area already forming somewhere in the east.  AW has been watering the garden day and night with water pumped up from the pond and the ground is just soaking it up.

More and more horrific news from across the Big Water.  I have turned a large part of it off but I know enough to be upset.  How can the people of a country allow these things to happen day after day, and watch their leaders deliberately turn their backs and dismiss it.  There's been a large demonstration here, in Amsterdam, to express outrage and to confront our own history of discrimination and racism.  Damn the corona.  Damn social distancing ... to the horror of our medical personnel.  The mayor did not intervene because the issue had become too large for police intervention, and she understood the need to express this universal outrage at the injustices being done, but now the people at the Dam in AMS are being advised to self-isolate, just to be sure.  We are here at home and we are staying safe here, but what kind of world will meet us when this is over.  Discipline and presence of mind of vital importance now.

Again, I hope you're all staying prudently safe.
