Read all about .......
..... It!
Truly I'm ashamed that I hadn't read this before. Apparently this pond has been a very important part of this busy junction in Sanderstead for years and years. In fact it goes back to the Messianic age ( 12,000 years ) in the 1950 the Archeological society were digging in the vicinity of the pond and found ancient pieces of pottery and coins , even a brass belt buckle from the 13,00's . It's a natural habitat for wild life water fowl and fish, dragonflies and the water plant life too. Amazing what you (dig - up ) find when walking on a rainy day , just the weather to stop and read !! Now that's "silly" enough for S.S. Isn't it?
Do hope you've all managed a peaceful and safe day .
Grateful ..... to know the gardens are getting a bit of rain . Tho' I must say its a bit brighter now.
