Tui and persimmon
It is a very long time since I have slept for ten hours. A couple of short awakenings aside, That's how long I slept last night. By the time I woke, sunrise was well gone, and I began the day fairly leisurely, before cycling to LabTests for a blood test, then lunch and visit S in hospital.
While I was there the physiotherapist came in and took her for an escorted walk on crutches. The Physio was very complimentary of how well S is doing, and said that her knee movement just over 24 hours post surgery is very impressive. Later (during a second visit this evening), her knee is a bit warm and more painful than before. Just hope she isn't doing too much too soon. They are watching closely and being careful.
Between my visits, I had a walk. Decided against any running as the cycling today was a tad harder than I expected. The walk went very well, and I varied the usual route back from Three Lamps, and went along Scanlan Street from Richmond Road.
Which is where I saw a persimmon tree with some ripe fruit remaining, most of it well nibbled at by birds. Tauhou and tui were sharing access to the fruit. The low evening light made it hard to show the colours of the tui, and this was the best I got. I do like the way that the persimmon stands out, without me specifically choosing to do that.
I've posted an extra; another manhole cover. I haven't worked out what the differences are between this model (B-TEC) and the first one I posted (KARUM). The shapes and pattern of the antislip surface are different, but I suspect there is more to it than just that.
New Zealand is at Alert Level 1 (since midnight), and most things have reverted to normal. As I'm not at work this week, I'm not involved in deciding how the change affects the inpatient ward. I did make it clear last week, that my preference is to just quietly resume working how we were before, while remaining alert to the (outside) possibility that someone with Covid-19, will turn up for admission. On that basis, I believe that we should continue to hold two rooms in ICU as able to be isolation rooms for such an event.
