A quiet day!

No travelling, no blipmeets. A quiet day in this lovely place.

By the time we had done a bit of breakfasting, sorting, shopping and gathering of information, it was turning out to be another warm day in Wanaka and the lake waterfront was getting busy, so we headed off into the mountains. Mt Aspiring National Park is quite awesome. Like the Lake District on a larger scale; like the Scottish Highlands with lakes and sun. Well actually like neither, but you get the idea. You've also seen lots of wonderful photographs of the area from the local Blippers.

We tried the Diamond Lake Track, which was is a popular path and first went to a small lake - Diamond Lake. Then we decided it wasn't far to a viewpoint and we would go up there. However, if we had looked up before, we would have realised that the way now was straight up a cliff face. This was done via a series of steps. We went up a million steps - up, up, up - another flight - up, up, up. Now I am sure there were a million, but Cycling Granny (who knows about these things) says there is 284 and she has counted them. I cannot argue with that sort of evidence, but it certainly felt like a million!

I gave up at the viewpoint, but if you want to know what was the reward for going even further up look here.

This is the view from as far as I got. It shows the track we used, the track round the lake and the hills and mountains around.

I've found Blipbear. Have you?
