If you can't beat them...

Ox-eye Daisy (Leucanthemum vulgare)

Before lockdown we were planning a "wild flower meadow" on the bank at the Lodge.  Before we got any thing started Lockdown came.  During lockdown we haven't bothered to even mow the grass.  However we have booking starting in July, government permitting.

So today we popped out there so that I could strim the grass as a start before mowing.  I watched Spring Watch the other day when Chris Packham was urging people to stop mowing lawns.  He said we would be surprised at what was already there.  Well he was right.

Apart from 3 large clumps of these Ox-eye Daisies I saw Speedwell, two types of buttercup, the inevitable dandelions, common daisies and what I am tempted to say was Marsh Hawksbeard.
