Little Fungal Fairy Castles
Sushi has heard that from next week, he will be back at school for a day a week and with a ‘bubble’ of other students. He is really looking forward to going back. The reality of how quickly his A’level courses are passing is starting to sink in as he is having to prepare his university applications. Although, at the moment, he’s planning on deferring his entry from Sept 2021 to Sept 2022, he is still going to apply for 2021 as normal. This year has shown how things can easily change and he won’t have to let the university know if he chooses to defer his entry until just before he is due to start. Talking to friends who work in universities, this is a particular challenge this year as nobody knows if students planning on starting in 2020 will defer due to the prospect of online course delivery and not having the typical ‘freshers’ experience or whether students who would have deferred to 2021 will actually chose not to, due to limited opportunities for travel and/or work during their gap year because of the Covid19 situation.
We are still waiting to find out whether or not we will be able to go on our summer holiday to France in August. Luckily I am not planning on revamping my wardrobe for the summer as looking at all the people queuing for the now reopening shops was astonishing. I think I will steer clear of the city centre for a little while yet.
On one of my ‘needing some fresh air’ breaks from my desk, I spotted masses of these tiny mushrooms in one of our currently uncared for flower beds. We had cleared the bed last year but had done nothing this year and that had obviously created the right environment for these little fungal fairy castles to grow.
