martha

some of you blippers might recognise this face: the magnificent martha chirwa. and those of you who know me, know that this girl has a big place in my heart.

when i first started visiting a local high school in 2010, every week i would hear martha's incredible voice leading the choir and every single week it would blow me away. the more i got to know martha, i found that her heart - and her smile - were just as big as her voice. realising that this girl had big potential, we got together and she was able to record a few tracks at a local studio, the proceeds of which will help towards her further education. we popped into the studio today to check progress on the album and take a few pics.

i dare you to spend 5 minutes with this girl and not smile. she is just wonderful.

martha's family have also stolen my heart a little bit and so it was good to spend time with them today as well (mum and dad, they say hi!). my plan was to blip baby hannah today but after crying at the muzungu, she went for a nap so that wasn't to be. she's still super cute though and will be blipped.



(i'm taking a break from my normal blipping routine and from now until i leave i will be posting portraits of the people that i love here in zambia. i might put them all together at the end to make a mammoth picture to hang on my wall, but mostly they will stay here on blip so i can remember these lovely people.)
